 Hello there Indy,

I nearly punched my first physical therapist on several occasions.

((( Please note: If you're super sensitive, this email might make you feel a little uncomfortable... you've been warned )))

Yes, me... the very kind, open-hearted human who does her best to make everyone feel comfortable around her (even though that's technically NOT her job)... are you a recovering people pleaser too? (or do we just take out the 'recovering' bit?)  All good either way. <<< there I go again. LOL

But please do keep reading for more inner workings of my first rehab experience... it's worth it.

When I broke my arm and had my first metal implant installed, the surgeon said I would be only be able to get 80% of my mobility back.

Meaning: I wouldn't be able to quite touch my shoulder with the same hand.

My physical therapist decided it was possible for me to get 100%. She believed in me and the process. Even though I dreaded our sessions.

Through the pushing physically and continually hearing: 'come on, you can DO this'...  I finally did get 100% back.

But now without a ton of grimaces, inner rage, and frustration that I had to keep going through the pain to get to what used to be my normal.

Talk about a lesson in never taking things for granted again!

Rehabbing your body is painful. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't really been through it.

But there are excellent ways to measure your physical progress.

When it comes to rehabbing your mind after a bad fall, that's a whole other story.

If you don't have the mental skills to build yourself up slowly, but surely... you can end up feeling like you want to punch your own mind!

The first few rides, on my gorgeously patient "steady-eddy" of a lesson horse, were like watching a horror movie over and over again.

It started out like any normal ride, but once we got to the trot I couldn't stop the horrible images and feelings taking over.  It triggered the fall memory immediately. When the buck happened and I went flying off the wildly athletic TB I was schooling, it started with a very quiet trot.

I would hop off randomly when it got to be too much with that harsh loop playing over and over again. It made me keep feeling that pain when I hit the ground, screaming, and trying not to pass out.

It was horrible. And I NEVER want anyone else to have to endure this kind of get-back-to-riding-with-your-confidence-completely-shot feeling.

Because I felt completely alone. I was also super hard on myself for not being able to push past those feelings and images, especially on a horse I trusted completely.

It wasn't until I started changing my perspective and learned how to partner with my mind, that I started to not let the past experiences hijack my time in the saddle.

If you're going through a hard time getting back to riding after a fall, or just after a long period away, reply back to me now.

All you need to say is 'I'm ready" and I'll send you the info to book a time with me to chat, face to face.

You can let me know what you're going through and where you'd LOVE to be, sooner than later with your riding.

I will then offer you a clear path forward.

As you might surmise from my first sentence, with my 'first physical therapist'... I've had several other incidences that have required their assistance. And wow, am I ever so grateful that I found amazing ones that pushed me... and knew where I wanted to go.

If your mind and emotions are all over the place, I'd be honored to guide you back towards the path of confident, joyful riding again.

For working with physical therapists: I highly recommend finding ones that know a few things about equestrians!

If you've read this far, thank you. I felt it was important to give you a deeper look into how far I've come... and that all of these experiences inspired me to embody being the best confidence coach/powerful hypnotherapist I can, so that YOU can be successful and empowered. (and never feel alone)

Sending love and...

May the horse be with you. Always.

-Beth Lauren Parrish
