There is a particular kind of tiredness that does not come from doing too much. It comes from giving in one direction for so long and never taking a moment to feel what is wanting to come to you.
I see it in riders constantly.
The one who drives an hour each way to a barn, where they end up doing everyone else's chores.
The one who has held her horse together through colic, lameness, stupid extreme weather, and can’t remember the last time anyone asked how she was doing.
The one who shows up for her people, her animals, her job, her family, and then wonders why she feels either too tired to ride or only gives herself a little bit of time for it.
Giving to others is not the problem. The problem is that somewhere along the way we decided receiving was optional. Or worse, that it was greedy.
So I made this meditation. It’s your reminder to find balance between giving and receiving. The beautiful balance point you find when riding and it’s all clicking into place? That’s what I wish for you in your everyday life.
Here's what to expect with this audio:
It starts where most of my meditations start, with your breath and your body softening wherever you happen to be. Then it asks you to do something that sounds simple and is not: to remember a time you helped someone, or an animal, and to actually sit with the fact that their life got better because of you.
Then it goes further. It asks you to imagine the ripple. Because you did not just help one spirit. You lifted their energy, and then they were able to lift someone else's, and that person lifted another. You may never see the whole of it, but that doesn’t make it less real.
And then comes the part I love most:
You picture an infinity symbol, a figure eight, and you send that love and appreciation out to everyone you have helped.
You then let it come all the way back into your heart.
In on the inhale. Out on the exhale.
Giving and receiving, in the same easy loop as your own breathing.
That is the whole point. Not to give less. To finally let it come back.
The meditation closes by asking you to tap into whatever you connect with, your higher self, the Universe, your inner guides, God, (whatever resonates most for you).
You ask to receive a message meant just for you. Then you listen. Something usually comes.
No email, no opt-in, no list to join. I put it on a page by itself so you can press play whenever you need it.

The full transcript is on that page too, if you would rather read it than listen.
If it moves something in you and you feel like sending something back, there is a place for that on the page. Completely optional. The loop stays open either way.
There is a moment near the end where I ask you to rub your fingertips together. That is not decoration. It is an anchor, or what I love to call a 'bookmark'. (you can read the blog about that here) Your body will start to associate that small movement with the feeling of being appreciated.
So the next time you are at the barn and you catch yourself running on empty, giving and giving with nothing coming back, take a deep breath in and out... and rub your fingertips together. Just for a second. Let it remind you what you already know somewhere underneath the tired.
You have made so many lives better.
Including your horse.
