There is a particular kind of tiredness that does not come from doing too much. It comes from giving in one direction for so long and never taking a moment to feel what is wanting to come to you.
I see it in riders constantly.
The one who drives an hour each way to a barn, where they end up doing everyone else's chores.
The one who has held her horse together through colic, lameness, stupid extreme weather, and can’t remember the last time anyone asked how she was doing.
The one who shows up for her people, her animals, her job, her family, and then wonders why she feels either too tired to ride or only gives herself a little bit of time for it.
Giving to others is not the problem. The problem is that somewhere along the way we decided receiving was optional. Or worse, that it was greedy.
